Do you have a daily health care regimen?

This is Flu Shot season.  You know, that time of the year where folks are getting sick. Now I won’t lie to you, I’ve never been a fan of flu shots. I much rather go another route to ensure I keep a strong immune system in order to combat any bugs that may come rolling my way.

Also keep in mind, I have been travelling outside the US since Xmas eve 2018 and I haven’t been sick once (knock on wood)  I would say that is primarily due to the fact I maintain a daily regimen to help fortify me from the inside out.

You should know that the eyes, nose and throat are entry points that allow us to get sick. Behind those 3 areas we have what’s called the mucous membrane. Anyway without getting all scientific on you, just know that first of all you want to prevent things from getting in there and second you want to make sure you keep it healthy

So allow me to share with you my 9 tips and tricks that I employ to reduce my exposure to naughty germs

Every morning I do 5 things:

  1. Gargle: After I brush my teeth in the morning I gargle with Listerine. That it help kill any germs associated with the part of the mucous membrane in your throat

  2. Apple Cider Vinegar: I drink a 12 oz glass of water with 2 tablespoons of Apple cider vinegar, the health benefits of ACV are numerous but one of them being it kills harmful bacteria in your gut

  3. Water – I then hydrate with 12 oz of plain water

  4. Emergen-C (or Vitamin C) – After the glass of water I dissolve a packet of Emergen-C in another 12 oz glass of water and drink that. After I ran out of Emergen-C I wasn’t able to find anymore abroad but fortunately I found another brand called Re which works just as well

  5. Neti-Pot- Neti post is a small pot that you put distilled water in along with a packet of saline (which usually comes with the neti-pot) and simply stand over the sink, tilt your head and pour the water in one nostril and allow it to run out one side the switch to the other nostril and repeat. This is a perfect way to keep the part of your mucous membrane associated with your nose healthy

3 additional daily tips

In addition to the things above,

  1. I also drink Green Tea daily, which is high in antioxidants

  2. I drink water to keep my system flushed and hydrated

  3. I keep my hand out of my face because that’s how you get sick

Travel Tip:

If you travel you know that the air in the airplanes is recycled oxygen, so one of the most aggravating things about flying (besides sitting close to a crying baby and not having headphones, lol) is seeing someone on the plane coughing and sneezing, yuck! Now you can always use Airbrone or something like that but one thing I do that has helped is I gently rinse my eyes and nose out with water before, during and after a flight. This way I keep those entry points clean. So far it’s worked and I’ve been on over 40 flights since Xmas Eve and stayed healthy!

So that’s my daily regimen along with a few daily habits that I use to keep myself healthy. Not to mention I lift weights and do cardio regularly too, which also helps. But I am diligent with these and it been so far so good!
Try them out for yourself and let me know how it works or if you have some suggestions from your own regimen, I’d love to hear about it.
